My first experience on Advertising and PPC I got with Etology which we currently use on our biggest Site.
Facts:

First we used Etology on all possible Ad Spaces but later we found a better Advertiser. So currently we only use the XML Feed of Etology but the Earnings are better because of a more effective CTR and so we stay at both Advertisers.
Some bad experiences from the past were that the stats of Etology were broken for a few days. This happened in the past 4 times which is really bad when you try to grow up and want to get better Click-Rates etc. with your modifications.
Another bad point is that our Account Manager left Etology and we got no Message about this. This is a big fault when you need informations for pushing statistics and doing optimations on the site.
To display Ad spaces on your site you got 4 different methods: Text, Banner, Thumbnail and a commerical break which is a horizontal banner who perfect splits the content. And you can easily modificate your banners with other fonts, sizes and colors so that you can integrate the banners perfect into the style of your site.
